Shooting can be the easy bit! First, what about all the planning: what camera, what sensor, what lens, what lights and most important of all what’s the story…..?In this Webinar, Obs Doc DoP Jeremy Humphries will take you through his step by step process of pre-production planning before even a frame has been shot. It all starts with the initial storyline treatment and then the thought process in how to translate the words into pictures that will linger with our audience the next day, week or month later.
Using examples of his own work including BBC1’s This is My Song Jeremy describes how the wide range of kit available influences his decisions which will affect the shoot, post, the final film and ultimately, decisions that will help realize that storyline.
We are running a 45 minute session starting at 11:00. This will be an interactive webinar and questions will be welcome at anytime.

Jeremy is a BBC trained Director of Photography who has been filming documentaries around the globe for over 30 years. Along the way he has shot a number of BAFTA nominated series and won an International Best Cinematography award. He has filmed amazing stories on diverse subjects - child victims of the Angolan civil war, Nelson Mandela campaigning for black farmers' rights in South Africa, the meeting of the last British and German veterans of the First World War and prize winning chrysanthemum growers for Gardeners’ World!
Jeremy is a Sony Independent Certified Expert. He has a passion for using the camera to tell stories – and train others to do the same.
His company Skills2Film provides camera craft training to clients ranging from the castaways on the Bear Grylls, The Island series for Channel 4, to the BBC, Sony and numerous independent production companies. Corporate business clients include The Financial Times, GSK and Russell Investments.
